Our Tanzanian driver guide will transfer you from Namanga to Lake Manyara. Reach Manyara in time for lunch. Lunch will be served at the lodge with an afternoon game drive. Lake Manyara National Park is worth a stop in its own right. Its ground water forests, bush plains, baobab strewn cliffs, and algae-streaked hot springs offer incredible ecological variety in a small area, rich in wildlife and incredible numbers of birds. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Take an early breakfast at the lodge and enjoy a morning game drive at Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara is also renowned for the alkaline soda lake, which is home to an incredible array of bird life that thrives on its brackish waters. The site is also famous for its tree-climbing lions. Leave Manyara for Ngorongoro National Park. You will arrive at Ngorongoro in time for lunch. Lunch will be served at your lodge. Enjoy an afternoon introductory game drive within the park. Later enjoy the splendid views of the park from the lounge overlooking the crater. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Early breakfast followed by a full day of exploring the Ngorongoro conservation area which is also listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 sq. KMs, with sides up to 600m deep; it is home to approximately 30,000 animals at any one time. Swathes of cloud hang around the rocky rim most days of the year and it’s one of the few places in Tanzania where it can get chilly at night. The crater floor consists of a number of different habitats that include grassland, swamps, forests and Lake Makat - a central soda lake filled by the Munge River. Meals and overnight at the Lodge.
This morning after breakfast and a final glimpse of the crater, you’re off to the famous Serengeti National Park, the symbol of Africa’s wildlife. The word Serengeti comes from the Maasai language meaning “endless plains”. Large predators including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are drawn to the area by this abundance of prey which migrates throughout the park. Many smaller animals – rock hyrax, bat eared foxes, mongoose, honey badger, jackals, monkeys, baboon and African hare inhabit the area along with nearly 500 species of birds. Along the way to the Serengeti you will stop at the famous “Olduvai Gorge”, where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey made their discovery of early man. All meals and overnight at the lodge
During your stay in the Serengeti, you can decide with your guide how you would like to spend your day. On most mornings you’ll be awakened early and after coffee or tea depart on an early morning game drive in the amazing Serengeti. The early mornings are magical in the Serengeti, when the wildlife is just waking up to greet the days. After returning to lodge for a hearty breakfast you can depart on a late morning game drive returning to camp for lunch or you may want to depart with picnic lunch so that you can spend the whole day wildlife viewing. Off road, across the Serengeti plains, you’ll find “Kopjes” – massive boulder islands, standing in a sea of grass. The kopjes were formed by volcanic activity and provide shelter to a great variety of plants and animals, from the elusive leopard to the tiny dik dik.
Take an early breakfast at the lodge. After the breakfast, leave Serengeti with a packed lunch for Isebania border, the entrance of Kenya via Maasai Mara. At Isebania you will shift from Tanzanian vehicle to Kenyan vehicle. Your Kenyan driver guide will transfer you from Isebania to Maasai Mara through a great drive across the park. You will arrive at your lodge late in the afternoon where you have a choice to embark on an afternoon drive or spend time enjoying the luxurious facilities of the lodge.
Early breakfast followed by a full day of game drive within the reserve. Maasai Mara is renowned for its high animal concentration and abundance. Black-maned lions, elephants and buffalo can be seen, luck is essential for spotting leopards and rhinos, which make the other two of the big five. You will have a break for your picnic lunch in the middle of nowhere with an amazing view of the park. After this you will go back to the hotel for a few hours of relaxation as you enjoy the hotel facilities before embarking for the afternoon game drives. During your stay, you also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is an exceptional experience. Return to your lodge/tented camp for dinner and overnight.
After morning at leisure, embark on your concluding game drive in the Mara followed by a relaxed breakfast and onward departure for Nairobi. Arrive Nairobi by mid-afternoon. Drop off at your hotel, or free onward transfer to the airport for your flight home.
